The Guilty Men were formed 18 months ago in a bar in Hamburg, and I am one of the few guilty men who were actually there at the start. Just four middle aged guys from England I thought to myself as I watched then set up their borrowed gear, but I soon realised I was about to see history in the making. Bunny strapped on his left-handed bass, Paul checked his towel, Andy adjusted his drum stool and Stuart had a quiet moment to himself, I think he'd intended a group hug but the others didn't seem to join in. From the moment the lights went down to the moment when the band couldn't decide which song to do for an encore, the whole audience was spellbound. There seemed to be just too many coincidences with another iconic band - the bass player was left-handed, the singers name was Paul, the guitarists second name was Harrison, the drummer played the drums and we were in Hamburg.
I know that in future years hundreds of people will say they saw that gig, when in reality it was just a handful, but I for one can truly say...
I Was There.
